About the Therapist

As a therapist I have a gentle approach which helps each child feel safe and non-threatened. A feeling of trust is built quickly as the child's issues begin to unfold. I use a flexible, non-threatening, child-friendly approach allowing each child to choose whichever medium best helps to express feelings in each session.

Prior to my career transition into counselling, I spent time raisng my three (now grown-up) children. My children have been my best teachers in how to be the best parent I can be. It is through them that I learned that every child has unique needs and subsequently, my counselling is tailored to fit each individual child and parent.

I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Toronto and a post-graduate Diploma in Art therapy from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute. My continuing education includes training in play, sand-tray and narrative therapies.

I have had experience as a play and art therapist at the Hincks-Dellcrest Children's Mental Health Centre working with children who had experienced traumatic events in their lives. As well, I have used art therapy in several Toronto public schools.

In my spare time I enjoy using expressive arts such as fibre arts and choral singing.
